walking attempt no.2
Tried to get a man walking in flash again using a bit more detail and it looks much better, still in need of work though. This was made better by using more frames for walk cycle so it looked a bit more realistic. I also drew a simple car and put used a motion tween (which I learned from the red ball video) to make it drive past several times.

Penguin
Still experimenting with flash, this time I have used a penguin and made it walk across screen. This was actually much easier than the stick man!...
flash!
Just attempted to make a stick man walk past the screen using flash, this was quite tricky and the results are not great but it will do for now! To do this I had to draw out the movements of the legs frame by frame and then just cut and pasted the same body and head into every frame.
Ball
Had my first go in flash today, just made a simple ball move across the screen. This was fairly easy, i just drew a ball and then made a motion tween where and then moved the ball and then when u play it back it moves from where it started to the finish on its own.

Stop Motion
A group of us had a go at stop motion today which is when you take a series of images as you move and then play them to give whatever effect it is that you are after. In one example we made Greg look like he was floating through the air, in another we made a pair of shoes walk on their own and in the final one we made Paul look like he was sliding across the floor.
Inspiration
Watched 'Koyaanisqatsi' to get inspiration and see how images and sounds can be combined to great effect. It showed nature at the start but then moved into how it is affected by man and how we can use different elements from nature to use for different things such as building. The music worked well with the images and fitted well every time the images changed. The images were still videos that had either been sped up or slowed down to create the desired effect.
Also watched work by directors such as Spike jonze, Michel Gondry and Jonathan Glazer who did many films, adverts and music videos. They use many different techniques such as stop motion and in one example of a music video had a fixed camera and 4 walls that moved to give the effect the floor was moving. Another technique used was performing a music video backwards and then rewinding it so it looks like everything is moving in the right direction.

Design Brief - Choose One:
1. Create a set of interactive instructions using photography or video with an appropriate multimedia software.
2. Produce a piece of interactive media that shows one journey from different/varying viewpoints.
3. Create a visual timeline from a personal interpretation of history and present using sound, photography, video or an appropriate motion graphics.
My Project Objectives Are:
1. Develop an experimental approach to new and emergent media
2. Explore communication strategies for new and emergent media
3. Learn about the application of new and emergent technologies
4. Keep an ongoing record of your explorations and developments in the form of a blog (1000 words)
Rich media is a combination of different technologies including sound, video, flash and/or other emergent technologies within a context or environment, web, virtual or physical space.
